A CURE FOR "THE BLUES": This set of 3 Vintage French hand carved Galalith bangles are hand painted. The bangles are a pale ivory with a lively navy blue painted floral design. One bangle still has a label inside marked "FAIT MAIN" (hand made). Galalith was introduced in Great Britain in 1913 as a milk based material for jewelry. Very popular with the French, Galalith is a well known early plastic, a different chemical compound than bakelite and doesn’t smell or contain formaldehyde like Bakelite. Minus the formaldehyde the colors do not change. Condition: Excellent - a few tiny spots of blue paint - proving that they are hand painted. 1/2" wide, 2 1/2" inside opening.
