SHULTZ BLUE BEAUTY ( Vintage Bakelite Jewelry Shultz Bangle Bracelet ): Present day Bakelite artists, Ron & Ester Shultz, have created this 2 row checkerboard Bakelite Bangle in the rare colors of opaque powder blue and royal blue. This bracelet is thick, heavy and domed. These vintage, oxidized Bakelite pieces have been polished to their original bright, vibrant, rich and intense colors and then meticulously crafted into checkerboard bangles. The process for making the checkerboards is more wasteful than other designs and is very costly material-wise. Making checkerboard bangles involves constructing a checkerboard that is symmetrical and matches up properly between each square. Then they shape that checkerboard into a bangle that is convex on the exterior and sharply and uniformly curved along the reverse side to create the interior.
