DECO ICON ( French Bakelite Jewelry Brooch ):
This wonderful brooch of American entertainer, Josephine Baker, is made
of French Bakelite and textured metal. French Bakelite looks and feels
like American Vintage Bakelite, but has a milk base. Josephine Baker
went to Paris in the 1920’s and, with her exotic looks and sensational
performance style, became a beloved Paris icon. Her name has become
synonymous with Art Deco. Here she is hand painted in black, white and
red over a translucent light and dark rootbeer base. Textured metal
forms her extravagant collar and tiny metal beads and wires decorate her
neck and ears. The arms on this clever pin are moveable! The pin back
has a safety clasp. Condition: Excellent. Size: 3” long, 2 1/2”
wide.
