BAKER & BANANAS ( Vintage Bakelite & French
Bakelite Jewelry Bangles ): Josephine Baker is a beloved icon of the Art
Deco Period (1920 1930). She was what made the 20s roar! Her sleek
body and lacquered hair are the perfect image of the 20s. This was one
hot lady she danced in Paris wearing nothing but a skirt of bananas
and created a sensation. This French Bakelite Bangle has been carved and hand
painted to display Josephine in all of her dancing glory. The bangle is a deep
red matte finish color and all of the other colors are painted over the red.
There are a few tiny rhinestones and touches of gold metallic paint near the
large green banana leaves at each end of the figure. I have paired it with 2
faintly marbleized mellow yellow tubular Vintage Bakelite Bangles. I am
uncertain about the age of the Baker bangle. Im told its vintage, but I
bought it based on the jazz theme, fine workmanship and rarity. Feel the heat of
the dancing feet! Condition: Excellent. Size J. Baker Bangle 1 high, 3/8
deep, 2 5/8 inner opening. Set of 3 bangles 1 1/2 high.
