SLEEK & STREAMLINED ( Vintage Bakelite Jewelry Necklace ): This sleek Vintage Bakelite necklace is from my personal collection. It has the look of the more streamlined German pieces, but I believe that it is an American piece, probably from the 1960’s when the retro look was so popular. Remember Go-Go boots, bellbottoms and Goldie Hawn as the “sock it to me” girl on TV’s “Laugh-In”? This necklace is a scarce piece that I have seen identified as a 1930’s design. At the center is a large domed circle of creamed corn Bakelite. Two graduated side pieces curve down to the center to form a graceful circle around your neck. It is designed to wear at the base of your neck. There is a chain with a large hook to adjust the fit. I would recommend this collar style necklace for small or medium sized necks. Modern and chic, this Vintage Bakelite necklace makes a bold statement that looks great all year round. Condition: Excellent. Nice patina. Size: Bakelite pieces measure approximately 12” around. Will fit a 13”, 14” or 15” base of neck comfortably. The center circle is 1 1/2” in diameter and 3/4” deep. Extender chain is 4” long.
