CLUSTERS OF RIPE OLIVES ( French Bakelite Jewelry Necklace ): Fruits and berries were one of the most popular novelty themes of the 1940’s. Ladies dripped with red cherries, oranges and bananas – all in an attempt to keep the thoughts of war at bay. This tasty treat necklace features clusters of marbleized rust olives with veined light olive green celluloid leaves hanging from a deep olive celluloid chain. There is a very large spring ring closure. This necklace is a French Bakelite version of the much more costly Vintage Bakelite classics. A great novelty necklace that will always “chase all the blues away”. This season is full of these whimsically fashion tributes to the past. Light and easy to wear, you’ll feel like the spotlight is always on you. Condition: Excellent. Size: Chain length is 18” (the center cluster hangs 4” below my collar bone). Olive clusters hang 2” long, olives ¾”. There are 5 clusters with 2 olives & 2 leaves spaced around the necklace. (This necklace matches BB252, TREE RIPENED OLIVE EARRINGS.)
