HAIRWORK AND HEARTS ( Victorian Mourning Jewelry Brooch ): The delicacy and lacework effect of this dainty Victorian hair worked brooch bring to mind the originality of Victorian Valentines Day greetings. Table-worked tubes of medium brown hair are formed into double loops to each side and above two gold filled and engraved hearts in this lovely sentimental brooch (c. 1850 -1880). Below the hearts hang three perfect teardrop shaped dangles in a different patterned weave with all of the original findings intact. One of the hearts bears the initials "E M C". The original pin back and C clasp fasten the brooch. Most importantly - and very rare - there is no damage to the hairwork. Condition: Excellent. 2 1/4" wide, 2 1/8" long including the dangles.
