ANTIQUE BISQUE PUG DOG SALT SHAKER: This is a rare and nicely made Pug Head Salt Shaker made of Bisque Porcelain and hand painted. I’m sure he is quite old. He is in good condition but most of the gilt is worn off his collar bells, probably from use. There is no bell on his left side, but I can’t see where one was ever there. Maybe he snuggled up against a lady pug pepper shaker on that side. When I bought him several years ago I wondered how he was filled with salt since he has no opening. I learned on Antique Roadshow. The salt is poured into a small metal funnel or a curled piece of paper through one of the 15 holes on the top of his head. He measures 2 1/4" high by 2" wide.
