CHINESE BRONZE BEAUTY ( Vintage Chinese Signed Bronze Pug Dog ): I don’t have any oriental pugs in my personal collection, but came very near to making this my first. I think he is just stunning in appearance and in the craftsmanship of the sculptor. I particularly like the sculpted hair all over him (even on the bottom of his feet), the large bell or ball hanging from his collar and the small “vest” hanging down over his chest, which appears to represent decorated leather. I know next to nothing about oriental pugs. I obtained this and some others from the estate of a pug collector who collected mainly in the 1970’s. I have photographed the sculptors mark, probably his name, Jing San (roughly translated, pure mountain or mountain that is pure). If any of you pug collectors could tell me something about the “vest” (I’m sure they are called something else) these pugs wear and/or the name of this sculptor, I would really appreciate it. Condition: Excellent. Size: 2 3/4” high, 5” long, 2 3/4” wide.
