A BUNDLE OF JOY ( Vintage Vienna Bronze Pug Dogs ): Is there anything more joyful than a basketful of pug puppies? I think not! Just looking at these 3 little lovelies makes me laugh. And - making these 3 even more special – this is a Vintage Vienna Bronze piece – probably from the mid-twentieth century. I’ve taken a view from the top to show the great detail in the molding of the hair of their coats – not found on the more newly made Vienna Bronzes. The detail of the woven basket is also remarkable. The base bears the hallmark of Franz Bergmann, whose first small bronze foundry was opened in Vienna in 1860. His work was continued into the 20th Century by his son, Xaver Bergmann. Many of their 20th Century pieces are based on the designs of Franz. Also on the base are the words “AUSTRIA” and “GESCHÜTZT” (translates “protected”, i.e. patented). Condition: Excellent. Size: 1 1/4” high, 1 5/8” long, 1 1/8” deep.
