HANDSOME SILVER PUG GUARDS MATCHES ( Vintage Pug Dog Figural Silver Plated Match Holder ): This is a striking silver plated vintage pug match holder. He has the fierce expression foreign to our pugs of today, but not uncommon in Victorian Pugs. This very nicely made pug is unusual in being painted black (along with the match holder) and enhanced by having shining deep golden glass eyes. He is made by the "Derby Silver Co.", imprinted on the bottom, along with the model number "2306". Condition: Very Good. No broken parts. There are several areas of wear in the black paint letting the silver show through, which only adds to the antique appearance. The pug is 2 1/4" high, 2 1/2" long & 1 1/2"wide. The match holder is 2" high & 2" in diameter across the top.
