PITCHER PERFECT PUG ( Antique Majolica Porcelain Pug Dog ): When I go to antique shows, I always love to explore the Majolica Porcelain booths. The tin-based glaze colors are so vibrant and the motifs so fascinating. There are very few Majolica Pugs – though I think they are a fascinating motif. I have only 3 in my personal collection, all antiques – a humidor, another of this model pitcher pug and a large Victorian Pug seated on a fancy cushion. In any event, I felt lucky to find this pug as part of a collection. Particularly since he is in perfect condition (black light tested) - after I cleaned a layer of dirt off of him. Most I see have damage or repairs. I don’t think most of us would actually use this valuable collector’s pug as a pitcher, but one could. He is large enough to display alone (mine occupies a bookshelf niche) or as part of your collection. You can see the wonderful detail of his lustrous brown coat and his red collar with a dangling lock. Inside he is a deep, rich pink color. A great addition to any pug collection. Condition: Excellent. No cracks, chips or repairs. Size: 8 ½” high, 4 ¾” wide, 7” deep.
