PEEK-A-BOO PUG ( Vintage Pug Dog Figural Silver Plated Match Holder ): As a pug collector, I don’t often buy match / toothpick holders, but I felt this one was special. I love the motif - pug and playmate peeking around the holder with the playmate mischievously holding a bone under his right paw - playing keep-away from our precious pug. Even more special - this isn’t just any "playmate". He is a Bolognese Dog - made famous to me by the fantastic Meissen Bolognese modeled by Kändler in 1786 - a masterpiece! And to "top" it off, I really like the complex decorative "Crown" of the holder - much fancier than I usually see. This piece is silver plated by the James W. Tufts Company of Boston, MA, Model #2691 (all engraved in the base). Condition: Excellent. The Bolognese has a glass left eye, which shows, but not on the right, which is against the holder. Size: Total: 2 1/2" high, 3 1/2" wide. Pug: 1 1/4" high, 2 1/2" long. Bolognese: 2" high, 2 1/2" long. Holder: 1 3/4" diameter a top, 1 1/2" at bottom.
