PUG RELAXING IN A SEA SHELL ( Vintage Porcelain Pug Dog Ashtray ): This Vintage Porcelain Pug Dog reclines comfortably in a Sea Shell Ashtray. I imagine he’s had many cigar ashes knocked off against him, but he’s held up well. I bought him from a porcelain dealer who specializes in Conta & Boehm - the German company most famous for making high quality, relatively inexpensive Fairing Pieces for the English during the latter half of the 19th Century. It has no mark, so I can’t prove the accuracy of that. In the early 20th Century their pieces decreased in quality and became more colorfully decorated. This could be from that period. Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks or repairs. Size: Pug - 1 1/4" high, 2" long. Shell - 5 1/2" wide, 4 1/4" front to back, 1" deep.
