FINE DRESDEN PUG GENTLEMAN ( Dresden Porcelain Pug Dog ): This handsome lad continues the tradition of the finest of Dresden Pugs. He was produced by the Carl Thieme Porcelain Manufactory of Potschappel (a suburb of Dresden, Germany), which opened in 1867. It was one of the few Dresden porcelain factories to escape destruction during WW II. These lovely pugs, produced using the finest hard paste porcelain and hand painted by talented Thieme artists, are made from their original molds of the 1800’s. Most Dresden pugs are based on the famed Meissen pugs, with Meissen located just outside Dresden and in the 1700’s selling mainly from the city of Dresden. This one was most likely made since 1972. He carries the Thieme hallmark with "Dresden" below it. Condition: Excellent. Size: 7" tall, 6" long.
