THREE PRECIOUS PUGS ( Victorian Bisque Porcelain Pugs in Basket ): Don’t you just love these three darling pug pups, snuggled in their fancy woven basket? The back half of the basket’s lid is open, edged with golden scallops. This makes the perfect backdrop for the pugs. Though made of Bisque Porcelain (lightly fired), the piece has unusually delicate molding (note the fine weave of the basket) and relatively fancy decorations - faces of pugs and gold on edge of basket lid. I’m not sure what the yellow tag represents. I’m also not sure for what this pug basket was used. However, it looks great with flowers arranged in it (see one of my photos). I would guess it is Victorian. Condition: Very good. There are 2 shallow chips out of the back of basket top (see photo). They don’t show from the front. There is wear to the gold paint - always found on old pieces. Size: 4 1/4" high, 3" wide, 3 1/2" deep.
