PRINCESS OF PUGS ( Antique Bisque Porcelain Pug Dog ): Her highness, Princess of Pugs, is properly posed on a plush pillowed chair, painted with pretty posies. I believe this old bisque piece is a Conta & Boehme Fairing Piece, made in that company’s prime in the late 19th Century and sent to England to serve as a prize at the country fair. The early C & B fairing pieces were delicately molded and painted, like this one. Later the molding and decorating became cruder. It has no hallmark, but most did not since they were relatively inexpensive pieces when made. They now have become much more valuable due to their popularity with collectors. Condition: Very good. At first glance this piece looks in perfect condition, but I have shown in my photos that there are almost invisible small chips of both of the back feet of the chair. Size: Pug 1 1/2” high, 1 1/4” long. Total 2 1/2” high, 1 5/8” wide, 1 5/8” deep.
