PUG PARTY ( Eve Pearce Porcelain Pug Dog ): As
you can see from my other pugs, I generally collect antique or
antique-style pugs. Eve Pearce is the exception. Her little pug
vignettes are so compelling I can’t resist them. This is a great
example. We all know pugs aren’t just our pets – they are our kids!
So we can fully appreciate and understand throwing a birthday party for
these young brother and sister pugs. They are beautifully placed on a
light green base containing blue flowers and tufts of grass, as well as
the decorated cake and long striped ribbon. I love it that Eve’s pugs
are all slight caricatures and show a bit of humor. She has been
producing these gems for over 25 years, but collectors buy and hold them
– so they are difficult to come by. Her skill is obvious. She molds
them by hand from hard paste porcelain and hand paints them, so each of
her pieces is unique. This piece contains her hallmark. Condition:
Excellent. Size: 3 1/4” high, 6” wide, 5” deep.
