& YANG ( Antique Chinese Pug Dog Reproductions ):
This large pair of Oriental Pugs will make someone rare and special
decorator pugs. They are made of porcelain or ceramic, but made to look
like they are old painted earthenware. They have wonderful expressions
on their faces and beautifully colored “vests” hanging down from
their collars to cover their chests and part of their backs. I’ve been
a pug collector a long time and have never seen these two before. They
come from the estate of a collector and were probably obtained by him in
the 1970’s. I am guessing they are based on classical antique oriental
pugs, but really don’t know for sure. They are unmarked. Any
information about them would be welcomed. Condition: Excellent. Size:
Standing Pug – 9” high, 8 1/2” long, 4 1/4” deep. Sitting Pug
– 8 1/2” high, 7 1/2” long, 4 1/2” deep. Both posed for display.
