MARVELOUS MOPS ( Antique Conta & Boehme Porcelain Pug Dog ): Though the 4” & 5” Conta & Boehme Pugs are not that uncommon, it is quite uncommon to see the larger ones - much less in good condition and at a price I can afford! And we do a lot of hunting. Well, here is a beauty and he even bears the Conta & Boehme hallmark – an arm holding a short sword within a shield. Since C & B Pugs were relatively inexpensive pugs when made, the hallmark was often left off. Conta & Boehme was best known for their “fairing” pieces given out as prizes at English country fairs. Now both the pugs and the fairing pieces are very collectable. Condition: Excellent. There are a few very light scratches on cheeks, left brow, belly & back. There are fine original firing cracks under his right front leg & on his right shoulder (pictured). The blue & gold striped collar & bow and the bells are in excellent condition. I checked him with a black light and there are no breaks or repairs. Size: 7 ½” high, 8” long, 4 ¾” deep.
