Pug Figurines: PB057

SWEET VIENNA BRONZE PUG DOG: I love the look on this pug’s face. It’s the look my pug girls get when they know mom is coming home. The Viennese made these natural looking pugs in the late 19th Century, switching to those doing human activities in the early 20th Century. I’m sure the artist who made this pug had one at home and saw the same expression we see on the faces of our pugs. You can see how nicely she is molded - showing every hair, fold and wrinkle. She has the lovely green patina of a very old bronze. I could have cleaned it off, but I think it adds beauty and character. She is unusual in being posed in a lying position - most are sitting or standing. She is hallmarked with "M / SCH". Condition: Good. She has a small crack in her right front leg, shown in photo. It doesn’t show except on close inspection. 2 1/2" long, 1 1/2" high, 1" wide.
