RUNNING THRU TIME: This beautiful Victorian carved Ivory Brooch is unusual because it depicts a running horse instead of the deer so often rendured. Elaborate scrollwork and graceful curves form the framework for the piece (c. 1860 - 1880). Delicate foliage surrounds the horse who stands supreme as the centerpiece of the brooch. Look at those tiny legs and hooves. How could they have survived unbroken all of this time? The entire ivory piece is slightly curved - not flat - so that it really stands out when pinned on. His facial features are wonderfully carved - the whole piece is a perfect delight! The original C clasp pin back survives intact. Condition: Excellent. No breakage. Size: 1 3/4" wide, 1 1/2" high.
