HANDING YOU THE PERFECT GIFT ( Victorian Ivory / Bone Jewelry Hand Pin ): I’ve seen many of these Victorian "Hand" brooches, but never tire of their striking beauty. The workmanship on this large piece is exquisite. The entire brooch is hand carved from bone and has a soft, silky ivory patina. A delicate hand clasps a nosegay of forget-me-nots and a single full bloom rose. In the Victorian "language of flowers" the floral message reads "Do not forget I Love You". The slender fingers are carved in delicate detail and a tiny ring is suggested on the pinky finger. The lace cuff is extremely dimensional with carved scallops and eyelet-like piercings. The pin back retains its original C clasp and has the date "1888" written in pencil. This could have come from a museum collection where such markings are common. Really, really beautiful!
