Victorian Jewelry: IV024

IVORY DELICATE AS LACE (Edwardian Ivory Jewelry Pendant ): Hand carved from Ivory, this lacy, almost cut-work appearing pendant, has the light, delicate appearance that is characteristic of the Edwardian style. (c. 1900-1910) The curves indicate elements of Art Nouveau, a strong influence in turn-of-the-century “art” jewelry. The ornate design motif features an elegant swan gliding on swirls of water under a canopy of vines and leaves. The pendant and bale are ivory and the accompanying chain (with spring ring) appears to be bone. Truly a piece that is both feminine and refined. Condition: Excellent. There may be a small section of ivory missing just above the swan’s back or it may have been made that way since it accents the swan. Size: 3” long (bale and pendant, excluding ring), 1 1/2” wide. Chain is 20” in length.
