ROMANTIC IVORY ROSES ( Victorian Jewelry Ivory Bracelet ): Roses never lose their romantic feminine appeal. This delicate Victorian hand carved Ivory bracelet is a perfect example of Victorian Romanticism. (c. 1850-70) The “Language of Flowers” captured the fashionable Victorian’s imagination and an abundance of blossoms and foliage provided an ample expression of their interest in the elaborate symbolism of nature. A single rose carries the sentiment – “I love you”. This gorgeous Antique Ivory Bracelet consists of 10 carved ivory rose plaques threaded on elastic cords. (Elastic was invented in 1830 and was an immediate success.) The center rose, with its foliage, is the largest and the other roses graduated in size as the bracelet winds around your wrist. It will fit a medium wrist. The roses have a soft patina and the bracelet is very comfortable to wear. You can see the ivory markings on the inside of the bracelet. Ivory is so flattering to all skin tones and this bracelet, with its multitude of blossoms, is an alluring example of the carver’s art. Condition: Excellent. Elastic shows no wear. A few interior lines that are surface deep only. Size: Inner dimension of entire bracelet is 7 1/4”. Best on a medium wrist. Center rose: 1 1/2” long, 1” wide, 1/2” deep. Rose plaques taper to 1/2” at back.
