FLORAL FANTASY ( Victorian Jewelry Ivory Locket ): One of the many points of Victorian Romanticism to look for is their botanical motif, which found a perfect expression in carved Ivory. This intricately crafted Victorian floral locket is hand carved from Ivory. (You can clearly see the grain marks on the back.) A heavenly mixture of roses, for-get-me-nots, daisies, morning glories and lily of the valley cover the domed surface and bale of this sumptuous Antique Locket. (c. 1870-80) Symbols of love and mortality are mixed in abundance. The central floral plaque swings open to the side to reveal an oval portrait frame inside. The back of the locket and large bale are flat. I have had the swivel rivet replaced so that it closes securely and will not swing when you move. The soft radiance of this locket adds to its delicate appeal and it looks superb worn on all colors. A marvel of skill and artistry! Condition: Excellent. Evidence of tarnish from a silver chain inside the bale, but when you put your own chain or ribbon on it will be covered. Size: 3 1/8” long, 1 5/8” wide, 3/8” deep.
