ROMANTIC ANCHOR OF HOPE: Inlay pieces of bloodstone, carnelian and Montrose agate decorate this beautifully detailed anchor brooch. The elaborately chased setting, including a silver rope twined around the anchor, enhances this dainty pin. The anchor, symbolizing hope, is a traditional romantic Victorian emblem. Fully hallmarked with the lion passant (the symbol for sterling silver) and the anchor mark (for Birmingham), this piece was made in England in the Scottish style, c 1900. Pictured in Antique & Twentieth Century Jewellery by Vivienne Becker (page 114). The C clasp and pin back are all original. Condition: Excellent. No visible wear. 2" high, 1 1/4" at widest point.
