CURATIVE CORAL ( Victorian Gold & Coral Jewelry Watch Pin ): This lovely low carat gold and coral oval watch pin has a grapevine lover’s knot at its center. Under the knot is a cylindrical bar of coral, prized by the Victorians for its reputed curative and protective powers. The grape leaf motif is repeated in the engraved scalloped edge design. (c. 1860 - 1880) The hook on the back can be used to suspend a watch or pendant. The pin back is a replacement with the addition of a secure safety clasp. Condition: Excellent. Some marks on the back indicating tests for gold content. Not visible. 1 1/2" wide, 1 1/8" high.
