TUT’S TREASURE: Inspired by the treasures of the tomb of Tutankhamun, this lovely Egyptian Revival Necklace features a huge central plaque of Sterling Silver. The design is a winged scarab beetle holding aloft a large oval cabochon carnelian representing the sun. The scarab beetle has a gold wash and is clutching lotus blossoms with it’s feet. Beads of carnelian, red jasper and silver complete the necklace. Marks on the back include "STER" and "NAN ZUP", which is likely to be a manufacturer’s mark from the early 1980’s. (Yes, I do know it’s not Victorian!) There is a screw clasp. This necklace is from my personal collection, purchased when the "TUT" exhibit was touring the nation. It is difficult not to notice this statement piece. Condition: Excellent. Size: Silver pendant 2 1/2" high, 2 1/2" wide. Scarab beetle 1" high, 5/8" wide. Necklace 16 1/2" long.
