PRECIOUS PAST (Victorian Coral Earrings): Petite and pretty, these dainty Victorian Coral Earrings (c. 1860 - 1880) are a soft red-orange color. Coral was popular throughout the nineteenth century partially because Victorians held on to the belief that coral had curative and protective powers. Italy was the primary source for coral at that time. Tiny coral points dangle from domed coral clusters. The 14KT gold post backs are clearly a conversion. These earrings were probably originally on shepherd hooks. How charming these would look on a young girl or those ladies who search for diminutive Victorian earrings. Condition: Excellent. Size: 1 1/8" long, 1/2" wide, 1/4" deep.
